sevinç altan establishes complex, broken and fragmented relationships with the painting tradition using different materials and techniques. the void, as a landscape without perspective and a field of uncertainty between life and death in which both are devalued, is the ground of her paintings. In this imperfect landscape, which is incomplete and unfinished, is formed by scratches left in memory. parts and pieces taken from daily, political and social events were also imperfectly attached. they seem to be scattered and blown off soon, so they establish impossible relationships, they can get together with the other.

sevinç altan, graduated from mimar sinan university faculty of painting 1983.

she currently lives and works in istanbul. her studio is at galata.
